"As a big horror fan, I am genuinely shocked to see just 3 star reviews on this movie. This movie was so entertaining to me and filled with worthwhile symbolism and scares. It felt high quality, the pacing was good, it had twists and wasn't very predictable. The acting is immaculate and I loved the setting. The ending is clear and action packed, but it is up to the viewers interpretation (if you hate things that aren't cut-and-dry, or if you hate analyzing movies, this isn't for you). I thought there were some great themes of religion, mental health, generational trauma, and motherhood. It's definitely a movie that you need to pay attention to so you can grab all the details. I'm glad I went to the theater to watch this one and hope to rewatch it with family when it comes out. Highly recommend if you're into metaphorical horrors like The Babadook. "
"A mother and her twin boys live in the woods. The world has ended...according to mom....and they have to look for supplies to sustain them. The catch is there is an evil that can strike at any time and the only protection they have is the house. So they must be connect to it at all times with a rope. So what happens when one of her sons begins to question if this evil is real? That's a pretty solid set up. It is a slow burn but they do keep you engaged. Berry is good as the over protective mom who might be crazy....or maybe not. They do enough through the first 2 acts to keep you guessing. The boys give excellent performances as well. Where this one falters is the ending. They kind of dropped the ball by giving us an answer that satisfy both theories. They should have gone one way or the other or let it up to the audience to decide. This does not pay off that slow burn time investment enough. Still good and worth a watch but could have been so much better. Please check out my podcast Mostly Low Budget Movies Reviews with Clarence for a full break down. On all streaming platforms. "It wasn’t great, but it wasn’t bad. Really nice acting and good effects. The only thing I didn’t quite enjoy as much was that it was just kinda boring. A lot of people don’t like the ending, but once you read more into it it’s kind of cool. The ending is open ended, was the evil real or not, and I like how the two sons were on either side of the spectrum. It just didn’t hit the mark for me like other movies I’ve watched."
"Surprised on how better it was than I was expecting. Story and concept is pretty cool, only complaint is it should’ve been a bit longer. Felt there was more this movie could’ve given but didn’t."

"I almost gave this movie a 3..however, I feel like these kids were amazing little actors! I love me some Halle Berry but the boys really carried this whole movie for me. I can't wait to see what they do in the future. As for the story, I felt like it was enough to keep me captivated but there were a few moments of boredom. I did not enjoy those slow parts but really enjoyed the jump scares and creepy things lurking. The constant is she just crazy or is there really something out there to fear was a wild ride. I enjoyed this movie though."
