"I’ll admit when this movie came out I did not realize it was directed by Michael Mann and just assumed it was some big blockbuster Michael Bay-esque action comedy, as was how I remembered the TV show. It took me nearly two decades to watch it and I couldn’t have been more wrong. I can see why, at the time of release, the general audience was a bit perplexed, probably because most people (myself included) thought they were getting a ‘Bad Boys’ type of movie, and instead watched 135 mins of a taut, hyper-stylized action drama. To this day no one does shoot-outs like Michael Mann. A very pleasant surprise."

"I grew up on the 80s classic series, but I waited a long time before I watch the movie. I was surprised. It was a good story with some great action scenes. The movie doesn’t compare to the original in the way that made the series iconic, but enjoyable nonetheless. A solid 7 out of 10. "

"The movie is meant to be a mood or vibe. The feel of an indie with the budget of a blockbuster. Comparing it to Mann classics like Heat is missing the point. "

"This film has a sort of noir to it… it gives it character making it unique… this film feels real, and I think the way it’s filmed helps to sell the realism between the parties conflicts and the handheld scenes adds the layer to making you feel like you are in it. Where they use music in scenes and don’t use music in scenes also adds to where you are supposed to be quite with these characters and when you you should stay silent. I’m so impressed by this movie. 8/10"
