In 1947, four German judges who served on the bench during the Nazi regime face a military tribunal to answer charges of crimes against humanity. Chief Justice Haywood hears evidence and testimony not only from lead defendant Ernst Janning and his defense attorney Hans Rolfe, but also from the widow of a Nazi general, an idealistic U.S. Army captain and reluctant witness Irene Wallner.

"Powerful and haunting courtroom drama about the Nuremberg war crimes trials. Acting, writing and directing consistently strong throughout and filled with sharp focus and purpose. Maximilian Schell deserved every bit of that Best Actor Oscar. Required viewing for all."

"Excellent, excellent movie. Again, it’s history. We need to honor that and honor the people who actually lived these lives in these horrible times and conditions. In my opinion, that’s what we are doing when we watch these movies. It is definitely worth watching! A little side note - you get to see a very young William Shatner in this! "
