This comical love story follows the story of A.J. Fikry, whose life is not at all what he expected it to be. His wife has died, his bookstore is experiencing the worst sales in its history and now his prized possession, a rare edition of Poe poems, has been stolen. He’s given up on people and even the books in his store offer another reminder that the world is changing too rapidly. But when a mysterious package arrives at the store, it gives Fikry the chance to make his life over and see things anew.

"In the movie, a character says that a books comparison of a hospital room is like a plays version of a book. This movie is like plays version of the book. Large parts of it have been clipped out so that you have no idea what is going on. It’s like the producers read it and then made the movie but the editors came along and took chunks out willy nilly. It’s missing a lot of what gave the book life but it had the framework for being a good movie and I did cry but only bc I knew what happened in the book. Read the book!"
