"Picks up from where Part 1 left off. Like the first, loved this film too (maybe slightly more than the first). Part 1 was devoted to setup, and this one sees the plot in action (not entirely dissimilar to the way BAAHUBALI 2 follows the first BAAHUBALI in terms of plot progression). The film takes interesting creative liberties that largely work. Production values, direction, cinematography, performances (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Jayam Ravi MVP, with Karthi, Vikram, and Trisha also standing out), and especially score (by A. R. Rahman) really stand out. When taking both parts together, this is undoubtedly Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus. Highly recommended."

"historical epic, beautifully shot, meant to be watched in theaters. the sound track is supreme and the casting impeccable. read the book first, and the director did the text justice. 10/10 recommend this series, and i’m not even the historical film type."
