"I really don’t know what it is i just watched. I enjoyed the road trip aspect. For me the side story lines really weren’t done well. I really wasn’t paying attention to the plot really just the dialogue between him and lolita. ****** ** **** *** *****.I liked watching a film that focused on a subject that may be uncomfortable for some. I am still confused on the purpose of this because they do not hold back on sexualizing the little girl. Weirdest movie I’ve watched but I liked parts. I think a 3.5 would be my honest rating because it’s not a film that one can find entertaining. Just uncomfortable feeling I guess."
"Does a great job of making you feel very very unsettled. Do NOT get it wrong, this movie is NOT a romance movie and deals with an unreliable narrator. I will repeat it for my folks in the back, THIS IS NOT A ROMANCE STORY🙃. In my opinion, if you want to watch this movie, read the book first and do your research. I believe the author intended for the readers to know that the narrator is disturbed. People say this movie romanticizes too much, I say it’s the people that romanticize too much. If you pay attention, the movie does a good job of representing Dolores’ character. It shows her pain, struggles of abuse, desire to escape what seems to be an inevitable situation and the extreme trauma that seems to prevent her from realizing this manipulation and abuse too late. I like psychological horror movies and this is definitely one, but most certainly a one-time watch."
"This isn't for everyone, especially the people who get offended about everything. So, if it offends you that the word "***" is in my vocab, this movie isn't for you. For the rest of you, this show is a dark drama about a man in love with a young girl he can never truly have. It'll have you twisting and turning; your brain will be telling you it's wrong, while your heart will be leading you the opposite direction. It's intense. Not for the faint of heart, or maybe it is.. "
"Unpopular opinion: it’s a beautiful story, and they’re both bad people. "

"I must say, Jeremy Irons' voice is very very pleasant for narrating, but watching this movie definitely was not comfortable. After just finishing the book, I can definitively say this is the most book-accurate version I've seen. Though I don't think it should have been made into a movie at all. The book gives the audience a better sense of the "unreliable narrator" as it is used by Nabokov, but the movie fails to do so, not intentionally (which is usually the problem with book to film adaptations) which makes it more discomforting as a viewer. Overall, I would rate it a 6.5/10. Also, this should definitely not be put under the "romance" category."
