"I'm not exactly sure how I feel about this film. I wanted to like it more than I actually did. I know it's a dark comedy but I found myself saying what the F more than I found myself laughing. I found it more disturbing that no one reacted at all to either Edward's or Oswald's facial deformity, ignoring it totally as if it didn't exist. It made the tone of the movie bizarre and confusing. I can appreciate the acting as everyone involved did a fine job and I get the story and the message behind it all, it just falls dangerously close to an Art House film for my tastes. 6/10"
"Edward is a man with a disfigured face due to an illness. This film follows a beauty and the beast transformation for Edward but he chooses to lose the continuity in favor of launching a new life. He then discovers he may not like his new self and doubts the sincerity of others. Well acted and amazing make up effects. "
"Definitely an A24 film"

"I thoroughly enjoyed my viewing experience. Cinematography was superb and some of the best zoom in shots I've seen in a while. Sebastian Stan gives an award worthy performance, but it'd be criminal not to mention the outstanding performances from the supporting cast. I loved how the film touches on the correlation between men's mental health and society's expectations on men's body image. My only gripe is that it's a 2 hour film that feels 30 minutes longer. Overall, this is a movie that is well shot, acted, written, and a theme that is well executed. "
"I really enjoyed this movie, and I believe it has many interpretations. I think the whole film questions societies perceptions of people with deformities and how that causes them to perceive themselves. Who we are is not based on how we look despite what society says. The cliché, "beauty is only skin deep," came to mind while watching this film."
