"I am giving this a solid middle three stars because I didn't finish. I feel that's fair because after listening to one episode, I would have given it no stars. I think three stars keep the overall ratings close to the same prior to my review. Perhaps I'm wrong. *shrug*
I wanted to like this. I really enjoyed Rabbits, which got pretty confusing at times, but this didn't even register in my mind as understandable. So many people enjoyed this podcast, and I feel truly stupid for not "getting" it, but life is too short to try to make myself like and understand something just because everyone else does. I don't want to work that hard for my listening entertainment.
I have read a few Reddit posts about the show, and it seems like almost everyone got tired of it after the second season for various reasons, but mostly because it got too confusing. My thoughts: If it gets MORE confusing and I'm confused after ONE episode, that makes this a very resounding NO for me!
Honestly, I don't even know how to summarize what I heard or what the show is about. If you listened to and enjoyed Tanis, I'm happy for you. This just isn't for me. Now I'm dubious about trying The Black Tapes, but I know I will. I loved Rabbits and didn't like Tanis, so there's a 50/50 chance I'll like a third show I try by PNWS (Pacific Northwest Stories). I'm from the Pacific Northwest, so I'm invested in this podcast publisher. Fingers crossed!"
"Yes! It kinda starts to fall apart around season 4 I think. They went on a really long break around that time so I had a difficult time getting back into it. But I really enjoyed the first two seasons for sure!"
