"6/10. Very weak attempt to recreate a great 1947 film. At over 3 hours, one wonders why all the time spent on kneading a very weak plot. In comparison, I spent 3h20m watching Apocalypse Now Redux, as an example of how time should be richly used in cinema. So many ridiculous issues - why is Sister Philippa unrealistically black, unlike the novel & timeframe? How can a nun travel for days through the Himalayas wearing only a habit, tunic & sandals? The 3 whip strokes are the weakest in film."
