When he locates one of these spirits, he cannot simply kill it; he must first learn its Form, its Truth, and its Reason in order to wield the mighty Exorcism Sword and fight against it. He must begin his strange exorcisms with intense psychological analysis and careful investigative work—an extremely dangerous step, as he must first confront and learn about the mononoke before he even has the means to defeat it.

"I loved this series❤️
I've always loved Ghost stories, mythology, and folklore so this was right up my alley, and I love it. The art style is so beautiful, too. The stories can be a little hard to follow at times, with it's symbolism and never giving the audience a clear answer on certain things, but I rather like that about it.
My only gripe is that I wish it was a little bit longer.
Though, I understand that they do have a film that's set to come out next year in celebration of this series' 15 anniversary.
I'm so very excited for that~"
"If you’re looking for an especially unique anime, this is perfect for you. Each episode is crafted with such care to details in the backgrounds/animation, the music, and the tone which can keep you attached to the screen as you’re watching. The Medicine Seller (Kusuriuri) is mysterious and while the anime doesn’t give any backstory to him, you can still tell what kind of person he is, simply by his well written dialogue and even by his LACK of dialogue in places. With that, the horror and mystique elements of this anime, I highly recommend it to anyone, again, who’s looking for an anime that breaks out of that traditional anime ‘mold’ that you see with modern anime and even anime from the mid to late 2000’s from which Mononoke was made"

"This is probably my favorite anime, period. It's one of the prettiest things I have ever watched, but I also felt like it took me apart while watching it. A lot of the subject matter in it is very dark and serious, and the show really doesn't pull punches with it. It's hard to describe and I really recommend seeing it yourself, but only if you're in a good state of mind to tackle hard subjects."
