"*Spoiler Warning‼️ * Obviously the budget wasn’t as grand and with the time this was filmed, graphics can’t be as advanced to what today can create. But as a lover of The Shining book, I absolutely loved this miniseries adaptation. The Kubrick film is a beautiful artistic film, but in terms of being a great adaptation to the book, this miniseries wins. I loved that we see more from Danny, we see his strength, intelligence, and love that he has for his parents. I love that we see more of Jack and Wendy’s relationship, it wasn’t all just hardships they shared, they did love each other. And I am so glad with the portrayal of Jack in this miniseries!! He is so layered, not just a recovering angry drunk, he feels the responsibility to care and support for his family, the trauma he had from an abusive childhood, he struggles with having a dream of being a writer but is tied down to the responsibilities that come with being a father and husband, but he in all honestly truly loves his family! I love that this miniseries shows all of that and stays truer to the book with scenes, characters, and especially the fight jack has with the hotel and in the end saves his family!!"
