Green Mothers' Club

"Still watching. While not a favorite, it’s still a good show, giving a glimpse into academic culture in Korea. I went to an academic HS in the US, & I recall the pressures & mental health issues faced by a large portion of the student body. Students that failed out experienced shame, & even those of us who stood, we still felt some type of way for not making it into Ivy Leagues. Brainwashed to think it’s what made us worthy. This focuses on mothers & their children. While HS & elementary are much different, if it was that hard on HS students, I can’t imagine the detrimental affects an imbalanced upbringing surrounding academia & perfectionism can have on the minds of these young children. The early years of one’s life often shapes the rest of it. “Green Mothers’ Club” explores shame, anxiety, guilt, boundaries, lying + compulsive lying, fear, abuse, sexism, gossip, competition, & more. It can be a hard watch at times."
