"🌟7/10🌟 Pretty good #crime #TVseries if you’re into #murder mysteries & eccentric townspeople… Alfred Molina is perfect & really shines in this deliberately-paced, cozy #mystery series, as the crime-solving protagonist Chief Inspector Armand Gamache, a character made famous in a series of novels by Louise Penny. #8episodes (There are 4 mysteries, with 2 episodes being dedicated to each mystery; there’s the set-up in the odd-numbered episodes & the resolution in the even ones) #IndigenousStories — Being set in Quebec, this #drama also gives the viewer an opportunity to learn more about the history & existing stories of Indigenous people in Canada."
"Love that it’s based in Canada. Beautiful scenery. Love the French words, dialect, accents. Moves a bit slowly and too many quirky background characters. Reminds me of tv shows in the 80s or 90s but it’s several who-done-it’s in one season so worth the watch. "

"I was sucked into this immediately. It’s a quiet yet intense mystery series set in Quebec with a great cast playing quirky small-town neighbors. I really liked the setup of a small team of detectives with very individual stories coming together to figure out these personalities and root out the truth. There’s a larger mystery that carries through the entire season while smaller cases take center stage in 2 episode arcs which also made for a gripping storyline. Unfortunately it ends on a bit of a cliffhanger and there doesn’t seem to be a 2nd season. "
"This series shows the trauma and devastation Residencial schools in CAN caused. It was beautiful, but also gut wrenching. Alfred Molina plays a sensitive detective who goes out if his way to help the community deal with the scars of the past. My only complaint about the series is that it initially centers around Molina's character but I was really more interested in the female supporting characters and wanting them to have more scenes and exposition about their points of view. Especially the 2 female detectives on his team. Other then that, great series "
"I’m going to this completely unread with the books. The first two episodes had me engrossed. But I thought the ending of episode two was the series end and I was miffed. (The MMIW issue is too important to give it short shrift imo.) There will be eight episodes releasing a pair a week. Can’t wait to watch the rest of this. LOVE Alfred Molina."
"It’s okay. Story (through episode 6) is good. Writing is pretty bad though and some of the acting is worse (are they reading from prompters?). Jean Guy is bland, Gamache is too wise by half, the more seasoned cops are weirdly unkind to the local gendarme, and Reine Marie is two dimensional. Plus no one eats! Not the Three Pines I’ve been reading about for years. "
