"+ This series follows the lives of high risk and extreme sports athletes. Equal parts fascinating, frightening, inspiring and narrated with humility and compassion. Some episodes follow the risky lives these people live, others are stories about miscalculations and horrifying accidents and how they were overcome. Instead of playing on the fear aspect of what these people go through Jimmy Chin treats the fear like one component in the overall process; a presence that is with these people, but does not define them whether they are successful in endeavors or not. Rapid water kayaking, big wave surfing, free solo mountain climbs and more. This show also acts as a bridge for other fascinating stories that I highly recommend. Alex Honnold from the great, breathtaking documentary Free Solo is featured in the first episode and Justine Dupont from HBO's 100 Foot Wave is featured in episode 7 where she experiences a horrible wipeout in Hawaii (the story is more widely explored in the HBO series).
- If there is one thing I count as a negative it's that the episodes are a bit on the short side. Some of these episodes could have been 45 minutes to an hour while others could have had their own documentary entirely. But really what I'm saying is that the content is of such high quality that even its negative is a low-key positive.
Overall: high quality content, captivating stories, and a wonderful bridge to other great shows and movies. Presently there is only one season, and if there is ever a second and it isn't as good as the first, the first is still great on its own. Though, I hope it is renewed. Move this to the front of your queue or watchlist."
