"On my list but wasn't under serious consideration. First episode in hits all the feels -- late 80s/early 90s nostalgia, good dialog, competent voice acting (for dubs). I can't pass up a good revenge plot staged in Germany, especially with all the Atomic Blonde vibes."

"This show has it all. Mystery. Thriller. Espionage. Comedy. Romance. Action. Adventure. I took half a * because it's frequently hard for me to understand but that's my issue so I'm rounding 4.5*s up to 5*s. Not EVERYONE dies but there is a LOT of death. Some people are just plain hard to kill & one person won't stay dead but there is an exceptional amount of killing. People have been comparing this show to Killing Eve & while I do agree, the biggest difference is that Villanelle has NO redeeming qualities as a born psychopath while Kleo is a made sociopath. I had a love/hate thing for Villanelle but I just love Kleo, even when she's being a bitch. I definitely prefer this show to Killing Eve. The first episode starts off in 1987 when East & West Germany are enemies, & ends in 1990, after the Berlin Wall comes down & a unification treaty ratified. The rest of the series takes place in 1990 to probably 1991. I love all the characters but especially Thilo. He steals every scene he's in. He's just a complete oddball of a person. He's never afraid. He's almost always wide-eyed & innocent. He's as loyal as a pet dog. He's never angry or mad. Even when he's sad, he's matter-of-fact about it. He doesn't cry or feel sorry for himself. He's so very likable, I want him as my friend. I completely adore him. Sven is hilarious & sweet & loveable. He does ONE thing that I didn't like but Kleo didn't seem to mind so neither do I. He's goofy but I sure ended up with a big crush on him & his eye-lined eyes. I found him quite handsome & charming in all his awkwardness. Kleo goes through a lot & you can see in the flashbacks to her younger self, she was made into a sociopath (with redeeming qualities) by her grandfather & the Stasi, a secret police organization in East Germany. Before everything they do to her, she is a happy & normal child. Luckily she still feels love & cares for those close to her even though she has no problem killing.
