"While I enjoy the anime and the Japanese Live-Action, this was ok at best it's not bad. Way darker tone than the Japanese versions, all that's missing is the humor that's in the Japanese versions. This is done by the director of Train to Busan, but it's not topping Train to Busan. If you're looking for something on Netflix, this might be up your alley if you don't mind subtitles."
"I liked it but I didn't love it.
First of all, the opening monolog literally has nothing to do with the show. It opens with words for you to read about a person on earth who had a thought about our overpopulated world and how we need to get rid of most of them to 100th of the current population in order to save the other living creatures. As we read these words, we are shown many scenes of all the horrible things we have done to destroy our earth, such as oil spills and smoke pollution, etc. But this show is about an alien invasion and never again is the opening monolog even referenced. As I read the words, I wondered how this would play into the show about alien body snatchers. It didn't.
Besides that, I also had a problem of feeling a bit bored throughout the entire series. Also, there were issues with some of the cgi moments, especially in the last episode.
The alien-snatched humans fought with their heads, and even though it was supposed to be scary, I found myself laughing as their bodies whipped their heads around, throwing their tentacles in combat. The absurdity of it ruined any fear it was meant to invoke. Don't even get me started on the silly eyeballs.
SPOILERS AHEAD!!!
A part showing an alien inhabited person fighting with its tentacled head while showing that the back of its head was a big gaping hole where the alien was supposed to be made zero sense. The alien didn't look anything like the original pitter-patter bug it was at the beginning. Now, it looked like some weird octopus-like thing with those stupid eyeballs. And it's no longer in this person's head. It's now flying and crawling around on it's own and yet the person still has its tentacle head. How is it still an alien if the alien isn't even in the person? Made no sense and took away even more of the credibility.
