"this offers some amazing insight into Cleopatra's life and legacy. I didn't know anything about her before watching this, especially in regards to her racial heritage (which is so cool). only reason it gets four stars is because sometimes the reenactment goes on for a while. the actors have a full-on script and they're doing things, and it can get kind of annoying. this is a documentary, not an actual show. other than that, super cool! cleopatra's life is sad and inspiring all at the same time."
"just watched this. And the only thing they got wrong was the wht men playing Caesar & Marc Anthony. The ppl punching air over “history being altered” have absolutely no smoke for wht Elizabeth Taylor playing her 50yrs ago. Who in their right mind would argue race in blackest AFRICA! Makes no difference where she came from specifically SHE IS FROM AFRICA in a time when 90% of the ppl was blk not arab (who are invaders that came in 6th century AD). And they are not & have never been Egyptians but occupiers that spread Islam there. Egypt predates roman, greek, & islam. The nubian population is the oldest Egyptian population alive, whose history dates back over 3000 yrs. 10/10 SCORE ❤️"
"This shouldn’t be called a documentary when you are basing facts off of what someone’s grandmother said. This show is equivalent to “ No matter what they tell you in school, Christopher Columbus did not sail the ocean blue” Also Netflix is being sued by Egypt for misinformation and appropriation of their historical figures. "
"Rewriting history is not good. From the first 8 minutes "My grandmother would tell me - I don't care what they teach you in school. Cleopatra was black." It would have been "ok" if they didn't state that it is a documentary. Definitely not going off of historical facts, they're just basing off of feelings."
