"This is a coming of age survival-in-the-wilderness drama series. It's a Duplass Brothers production (creators: Mark Duplass and Mel Eslyn), which I typically have good luck with and end up liking a lot, this being no exception. "Penelope" is described as the YA version of "Wild," of which seems fitting here. This 16-year-old girl, Penelope (Megan Stott), surely did a gutsy thing going on this soul-searching trek all alone... It was amazing seeing what she could accomplish, seemingly with no experience, but she learned and she persevered. It was mostly Penelope, but you see a few characters along the way (almost like The Wizard of Oz, in a way). I was always worried for her and there were tense moments as well as a bit of an emotional part... I did not at all expect what happened at the end of that last episode....... - I saw that it was released to Netflix 9/24/24, and I was just going to check out the first episode to see if it might be something I'd like, but I ended up watching all eight episodes in one sitting, which is not typical for me. Each episode is a bit less than a half hour though, so it goes by fairly fast. "
"classic-style juvenile show. modern version of a 70s โwonderful world of disneyโ show. i really like the self-sufficient female lead character. for me itโs like watching someone camp."
