"If you decide to settle in and watch this movie, remember that it runs 3 hours and 7 minutes, but it is worth it. I watched the film in two one and one half hour parts simply because I needed a break. The film stars James Coburn as a grizzled private eye, and he was perfect for this role. Hector Elizondo plays the role of a local sheriff. Brent Spiner plays a fun character role as a geeky magician and you can see he's having a fun time acting in his 1920s era movie. The regal British actress Jean Simmons plays a mysterious woman who is the caretaker of a strange and popular religious Temple that becomes the heart of the story. All the rest of the cast does an excellent job playing their parts and letting the story come alive. The plot revolves around the dain family, whom the community believes is cursed, but cannot say really what the curse is, and that thread runs through the entire film. At times I felt lost in the story but acting was so good that I kept g
watching. Perhaps this is the kind of film that I need to watch again to get all of the details straight."
