After being found in 918, the kingdom of Goryeo faced a critical existential crisis when the powerful Yuan dynasty tried to subjugate them. In the fictional setting of this drama, a warrior living in the timeline of Goryeo meets a plastic surgeon living in the present day. The plastic surgeon gets kidnapped by the warrior who got an order from the king to find a doctor who can cure the fatally injured queen. The two individuals who were not meant to coexist are brought together to fight their way through the ordeals on the land of Goryeo. The warrior makes a promise that he will return her to her world, but a scheming royal advisor persuades the king to force the surgeon to stay as she can be useful to him. There, the surgeon falls in love with the warrior who is the leader of the royal guard. In this era of change and chaos, love that transcends time and space blooms.

"This was the first k-drama I ever finished. I'm both sad & glad I did because the show progressed in weird fun ways. But the ending is kind of subpar & unsatisfying. Story, characters, acting, sets, historical aspect, and surprises are amazing. Ending was. . .eh. . . .it's good but not what you want.
Now for the story. Man, is it entertaining, and you can see the effort throughout. It will even shock you from time to time. However, the main female character is beyond annoying in the beginning. You come to love her when she gets over the hump of not understanding what's happened to her. Then she's much more tolerable & even becomes rather likeable. Yet that beginning is rougher than rough.
The cast is phenomenal. Everyone acts perfectly for the situations & you can tell they take their craft seriously. Everyone plays their part well. Almost too much so. You rarely realize you're watching a show because the suspension of disbelief (when you forget youre watching a movie. Breaking it is when you rralize youre watching a show) is so strong & withheld often. I commend the writers, set designers, costumers, even directors did outstanding work. Plus, the soundtrack is truly beautiful & fits the story in so many aspects.
So what's wrong with it? Well, youre gonna lose interest about halfway in or a little over halfway. I love the show but anytime I re/watch it I lose interest at that marker. Which is so strange considering how slow the start of the show can be. Yes, there's lots of action but things really drag on. You'd think you'd be done with it sooner. Now part of this could be because I have to read the show with subtitles & that can be daunting at times making you lose interest, so if you know the language, you might not have that problem."
