"I love the dark atmosphere of this show. It feels a lot like what I imagine Ye Olde Salem to be like. My problem with it is that, as a practicing witch, they get so much wrong about the content. Sure, it's historical fiction/fantasy, so I don't expect it to be super accurate. But it's like someone flipped through a history of witchcraft book, grabbed a handful of spooky-sounding words, and made up their own ideas about what they meant.
For example, the main character tells all the witches that she is "The Samhain". First, she pronounced it completely wrong. It's pronounced "sow-en", not "sam-hain". Second, Samhain is essentially pagan Halloween. It's not a title or role. Wtf.
I don't think the writers did an ounce of research for this show. I watch it now and then because it feels witchy, but the inaccuracies eventually grate on my nerves."
"I was disappointed with this series... there's really random and strange choices like having the "familiar" feed off the witch from a nipple on her thigh (I literally cannot make this up) also the main character is being like pressured/controlled by one of the only poc in the series and it doesn't sit well with me to be perfectly honest. idk this just could've been much better and I found it basically unwatchable even tho I love witchy content."
