"This #slow_burning 4-episode #TVminiseries ended up captivating me with its subtle intrigue & exceptional acting — The plot doesn’t 🔥heat up until the middle of episode two, so if you can force yourself to get through the unbearably SLOW (😩) first episode, it does finally become engaging as it suddenly turns #unpredictable, #suspenseful and #psychological — It should come with a ⚠️TW⚠️, but I’m hesitant to mention it because it’s integral to the plot. #romanticsuspense #mysteryromance #bookadaptations #FemaleLead ▪️ I’m also reluctant to give this a score — it’s either your thing or it isn’t, but I’d imagine the BOOK to be a pretty solid & suspenseful read, with the book perhaps being a bit better than the adaption??? — I liked this series & thought it had a thought-provoking ending, but I’d love to hear from someone who’s read the book, as I was especially impressed with the strong acting performance by Emily Watson, and Ben Chaplin as well, and I’m left wondering how their portrayals measure up compared to their characterizations in the book. I’m also wondering if this could have been boiled down to just 3 episodes instead of four!??"
