"I was a little disappointed to find out that this series was only 3 episodes, but they made up for it by packing it full of action with a slew of intriguing characters. Mel Gibson was a really smart choice as the main antagonist, he brings a certain maniacal brilliance to this role with a touch of fun, comic relief. I wish we had more time to dive deeper into some of the more interesting characters, but I did enjoy it immensely. And the soundtrack was a perfect compliment for the time period.9/10"
"A three episode limited series prequel set about 50 odd years before the start of the John Wick movies. The main protagonist is Winston Scott, the hotel manager played by Ian McShane in the movies, but there are several more awesome characters to cheer. There are nitpicks here and there if you’re looking but overall it’s really, really good. Super action and fights scenes, especially for a tv series. Stays true to canon. And hands down one of the greatest soundtracks ever. Bummed it was just limited. Can’t wait to see what’s next in that universe. "
"Sumptuous. That's the word for the style used here. They've created walking pieces of art in their characters, kiltering off into surrealist expression. The landscape is gritty neons, it all feels like a high fashion noir. Think wanted, smoking aces, domino, romeo must die, lucky number slevin and obviously john wick. The transitions are cool, they shot it like a comic. The story is just evolving (ep1). There's nothing original in the plot or the characters thenselves, but the action, style and attatchment to wick keep it going"
