"As someone with chronic illnesses this show really p!ssed me off at times, making us look like a bunch of looney toons. Mold exposure and Lyme disease are root causes for many, many chronic physical and mental health conditions. This show had a chance to highlight that fact and emphasize the lack of medical knowledge and experience around treating these conditions. But instead they made the show more about how cuckoo patients are for spending insane amounts of time and money on questionable alternative treatments that often don't really work. Those patients wouldn't have to resort to these extremes if medical professionals and loved ones wouldn't treat them like it's all in their head. Tons of people are legitimately sick and suffering from these things and need to be taken more seriously by western medicine. More research needs to be done to come up with better treatments, and insurance companies need to cover those treatments. Like they said in the last episode- most people don't want to be sick, they want to get better. It's just impossible financially for many of us to do so. And more so if no one takes us seriously. I think this show did more harm than good for the general stigma surrounding those suffering with these chronic medical issues that are not widely believed or easily recognizable."
"Idk why it has such poor reviews. I really enjoyed this documentary and thought it was really informative. I personally felt really sympathetic towards the girl who was allergic to mold and lived in the desert, and the guy who couldn’t get out of bed. They are very sad realities that medicine can’t explain everything. Sometimes life happens and no one believes you. This documentary shows the absolute extreme. And whether or not these illnesses were being reinforced by psychological issues doesn’t matter, they still need help. "
