"So I didn’t even finish this show ( not that I want too) but it’s not what I expected and there are so many questions while watching it…. 1) why do all the actors speak English 2) the script is not that great 3) why hasn’t any of the actors aged at all when it’s a course of many, many years?? And so many more questions….I don’t know it was weird viewing for me??"

"I watched four episodes and have six main criticisms.
1. Nicholas is treated like an infant who can't make his own decisions, and if he makes a bad decision, it's totally not his fault!
2. You have to sympathize with the Tsars instead of the Russian people. You don't understand what the Russian people are going through and why there are so many instances of violence: The only thing the Russian people know is violence. This is a county that abolished serfdom in 1861. Of course you're going to have revolutionaries, as the regime is horrible. The violent revolutionaries are supposed to be righteously met with violence, as they're supposed to be the villains who are trying to hurt the Tsarist regime. Not people who are in a horrible position with nothing to lose.
3. They erase any queerness of any person. There is one guy who is mentioned as being bisexual, but they cut out the people who are actually queer. Rasputin was bisexual and Grand Duke Nikolai Nikolaevich was a homosexual. This isn't mentioned, and history is straightened out.
4. They simplify things too much. They cut out important things, like the Tercentenary, and made Russia's entrance into WWI more of an instant decision than a political dance. It's so oversimplified that it borders on inaccurate. "
"It was a really good show if you like it you will probably like the series on Netflix called “Roman Empire” and “Rise of Empires: Ottoman” "

"Is a little cheesy? Sure, at times. But what a great way to learn about the end of the Romanov Dynasty. Worth it just for Rasputin!"
