High Guardian Spice

"A show this bad can only come from incompetence rather than deliberate/malicious intent. A series that manages to score a perfect 0/10 in every category by handing in a blank sheet of paper and trying to pass it off as a dissertation with the most elementary-school basic fantasy world and tropes, characters built from default settings, and, thanks to Ex-Arm, it can’t even claim the title of worst original “anime” on Crunchyroll. The biggest problem here is not the barebones magic system, it’s not the abundance of filler—seriously, even the FIRST EPISODE is filler—and I could even brush past the awful hatesink characters. It’s the fact the team cared more about diversity than anything else: the characters are one-note simple (I can’t think of ANYTHING defining Parsley as a main character other than “because she’s a Dwarf and Dwarves are a super-common party member” and exactly one episode about her family problems), the worldbuilding is listless, the plot is paper thin and filled with empty promises like an IOU *FOR* a plot in place of having an actual story, and any positives I see are just cherry-picking the “representation” (which you can count on one hand; Sage’s cousin’s wife, a background character, Caraway, a self-insert of the creator whose only relevance is in 2 episodes and gives a 30 second explanation like this was a Disney Jr. show, and…that’s it). Just don’t bother: look to the Owl House, look to Harry Potter, Little Witch Academia, even RWBY, ANYTHING but Low Guardian Bland! If you want to defend this series, then answer me this: what actually IS a Guardian? Two-thirds of the title is never explained. "
