Bon Temps’s psychic waitress takes a dangerous road trip in the third novel in the #1 New York Times bestselling Sookie Stackhouse series—the inspiration for the HBO® original series True Blood. There’s only one vampire Sookie Stackhouse is involved with (at least voluntarily) and it’s Bill Compton. But recently he’s been a little distant—in another state, distant. Then his sinister and sexy boss Eric Northman tells Sookie where she might find him. Next thing she knows, she’s off to Jackson, Mississippi, to mingle with the under-underworld at Club Dead, a dangerous little haunt where the elite of vampire society can go to chill out and suck down some Type-O. But when Sookie finally finds Bill—caught in an act of serious betrayal—she’s not sure whether to save him...or sharpen some stakes.

"I like hearing about coming out of the coffin across the world, as the show mainly focused on North America.
Loved finding out that Bubba is Elvis
- Eric is written very funny deadpan and his intimate scenes with sookie were very well written. He is also very sentimental about Sookie, so its nice to see that side of him juxtaposed against his usual cold shell.
Bills secret vamp directory is such a neat idea
The attack in the trunk was very intense and scary
- i didnt love that in every new book she reiterates discoveries from the prior books, also this one ended like it left off right in middle of story"

"Lmfao…this **** is WILD man. People always wanna **** on Charlaine Harris’ writing and talk about how Alan Ball’s writing “saved” this story but tbh I prefer the books. They’re so simple and fun and yeah Sookie is boring as all get out, but the situations are just WILD.

I mean ffs, Sookie being so damn boring is what makes the series so interesting. Boring people finding crazy situations is always going to be an incredible literary device."

"This one wasn't exactly my favorite in the series so far. I do hope Alcide is a recurring character, though. Sookie seemed to grow up some in this book, so I'm proud of her. And truthfully, I really want her to bang Eric...and not get back together with Bill...but we shall see (I've purposely not been keeping up with the HBO series so as to not spoil anything for myself.)"
