"love this one. as dark as pratchett ever goes, this one is a time-travelling Les Miserables. lots of interesting thoughts on surviving regimes with state-supported torturers, and who ultimately benefits from revolutions.
it's also a fascinating book in that this one is the most overt in its pro-sex-worker-rights. pratchett has always had his sex worker characters unionized under a guild, but this one shows what happens when sex worker protections are non-existent, and for their efforts they're used and discarded. this book gives so much context behind the city, behind vimes, and especially behind vetinari."
"This audiobook hooked me on just about all things Terry Pratchett. The reader is the BEST and I have listened to at least 1,500 audiobooks."

"Just read the other Watch books in order first! Vimes's character development over the series is great. "
