Charlaine Harris
Though a small town at heart, Lawrenceton, Georgia, has its dark side-and crime buffs. One of whom is librarian Aurora "Roe" Teagarden, a member of the Real Murders Club, which meets once a month to analyze famous cases. It's a harmless pastime-until the night she finds a member killed in a manner that eerily resembles the crime the club was about to discuss. And as other brutal "copycat" killings follow, Roe will have to uncover the person behind the terrifying game, one that casts all the members of Real Murders, herself included, as prime suspects-or potential victims.

"If this book had one word for me it would have been "meh". My sister liked most of Harris' books well enough to recommend me to keep going after the dismal end of Sookie Stackhouse. I took a chance on this seemingly unparanormal book of Harris'. Since it's a library book, I will give book 2 a try.

I think what made this book drag was Roe. She's that plain Jane librarian and just about as boring as you can imagine. And it is felt throughout the book. She's only slightly interesting when it comes to the mystery involving her club, but I spend most of my time skimming parts to try and get to the stuff that would hold my attention.

Harris tried so, so, so, so, so hard trick us into thinking we knew who the bad guy was. She tried so hard that I knew it wasn't him (and I was right). I felt a little sad she hadn't tried to be more subtle about it to try and sneak that one past me. If she had, she might have made this book better than just okay."
