Malevolence

"I’ve read about this movie for a while but finally was able to watch it. For its budget ($300K) it most definitely punches above its weight and feels very much like a spiritual sequel to John Carpenter’s original 1977 Halloween. In fact the cinematography and film used feels almost identical in parts. This is also a very odd slasher in that the villain is also somewhat sympathetic due to his origins shown during the opening scene. It’s not a perfect movie though by any means. The acting, at least from one of the main girls is pretty suspect to say the least but given this films’ independent financing and crew it tolerable. I wasn’t expecting to enjoy this as much as I did and I will definitely check out the prequel and sequel. "
