"An interesting film to be sure. I spent half the movie wondering when it would end, and the other half completely enraptured. I definitely want to watch the 2012 version now."

"As others have already proclaimed this is a classic slasher story.
Don't expect a great cohesive story. Really this is written to take you from one kill to the next. One scene and eventual killing in particular doesn't match the pattern and takes you out of the immersion.
The portrayal of a mentally deranged individual is pulled off excellently by the main actor and is what really makes this film memorable. This is highlighted in his Gollumesque moments alone between the killings.
Where this loses steam is once the photographer is introduced. The character is written and portrayed poorly. I just couldn't buy her interest in him and not being immediately creeped out at the circumstances of their first meeting let alone a potential romantic interest."
