E HinkesI do not know how "easy" you are looking for, but if you are just starting chapter books in your second language, Junie B Jones is a kindergarten main character who explains the meaning of words in some of her books. She also speaks improper English (hided instead of hid) so you could practice your English skills by trying to correct her grammar. The books are stand alone adventures and can be read in any order.
