"3.5 🌟 Good follow up to Wool with just as much illustration through detail. SPOILER COMING UP!!!
It surprisingly tells the story of how the world was created and gets it to the timeline of when Wool starts. Toward the end there were a few chapters that I didn't think were necessary, but maybe they'll be relevant in the third book. Overall solid scifi trilogy and I'm off to read the final installment!"

"When books try to balance a story that jumps around from characters and different times frames they sometimes lose me. Somehow this book did not lose me at all. Was it the fact that I wanted to understand how these people found themselves in their situations? Was the story just written well enough to keep me invested? Maybe a little of both played apart. Shift is a very well written story. A story that seemed to only give you just enough info about the end of the world to keep you turning pages or listening. Most definitely feels like something that could happen. Sometimes these stories are too detailed and too much based on reality that they seem very plausible. Thats what I liked about Shift, and Wool. Looking forward to the next read. "
"Prior to the events of the first novel in the Silo series, Shift unveils the origin of the structure itself. So many questions are answered, while still providing enough mystery to keep the reader guessing. Prequels have never been particularly strong for the most part, but this one is fully capable and exceptionally developed."

"I enjoyed a lot of this story, and the parts I didn't were probably because it had been so long since I read the first. Almost three years to the day! I appreciated the connections to Silo 18 and 17, but the story of 1 was sometimes hard for me to get through. Hopefully I will read the third before another three years."
