"Magic, complicated relationships, good character development, and a hint of dark academia are all features of this book. The book switches perspectives between six different magicians who are all chosen because of their skill to be part of the Alexandria Library. I had a love/hate relationship with every single character which made them so real and human. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am currently reading the sequel. Stay tuned for that review. I would recommend to anyone who read a lot of YA fantasy growing up. 4/5"

"The magical dark academia vibes are WONDERFUL.
Starting this book I was hesitant because I only liked 3 of the 6 initiates at first. But as the story progresses I definitely feel like most of the characters fill out in their nuances and all have really interesting motivations that propel their story forward and knit their stories together. And by the end of the book I like all but one of the characters introduced and it is definitely by design that I dislike that character. Additionally, the characters outside the six are all very interesting and I love that their roles are vitally impactful on the story.
I LOVE the chapters being told from a different character’s POV rather than a consistent narrator. I feel like that really allows the reader to get to know the characters without having to include tons of exposition.
I really like the magic structure implemented in this series and how it not only needs to be learned and shaped not only in how to use it but the nature of life and the magic itself.
I love the themes and morality questions posed throughout the story about power, knowledge, magic, truth, exclusivity, time, survival, and hunger.
My biggest critique is the use of Reina. I think she is SUCH a cool character but she kinda takes a back seat through the story. I hope she gets to hold more of the narrative as the trilogy progresses!
I’m so excited to read the next book, I’m hoping it will develop the characters further and continue weaving such an interesting story. "

"4.5 stars - Wow. I feel like I don’t even know what to say! Before going into The Atlas Six I had heard the writing was pretentious and I feel like that is something to be aware of before you pick it up. Be prepared to not understand some of the vocabulary and be prepared for some of the magic system to fly over your head. I had such a fun time reading this despite how clearly, the author is way smarter than me (lol!). The characters are intriguing because they all have selfish motivations while being in an environment where they have to work together. I thought the philosophy discussed in the novel was thought provoking and added to the experience. Definitely a book I would recommend, but only if you’re willing to be fully immersed in the world of academia.<br/><br/>Thank you to Edelweiss for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review."
