At the local ER, a battered and bruised teenage girl has been brought in by a mysterious man who claimed she’d fallen out of a car. The staff is suspicious, but while they attend to the teenager, the unidentified man slips out. Then the girl dies, but not before informing social worker Hildy Schneider that the man had her little sister as well.Mattie’s exam reveals forensic evidence of long-term IV drug use and physical abuse, findings consistent with Hildy’s suspicion that the girl was a victim of human trafficking. "I think I resent the audience this was written for. It’s a typical dramatized “true crime girly” story. There is your typical sex trafficking fear mongering and blatantly false portrayal of forensic science. The protagonist is a wretched amalgamation of millenial stereotypes. She works as a medical examiner who drives a hearse for purely aesthetic reasons. Also for some reason, she is the leading detective on multiple cases. Why is the medical examiner involved in a sting? Who cares. There is constantly too much happening. The protagonist does everything herself all the time. However, none of that warrants 1⭐️. No the final nail in the coffin was the gratuitous ‘comedic’ choice to have somebody ******** every other chapter. Like a heinous amount of toilet humor, why? Millenials. "
