Named a Best Book of the Year by BuzzFeed * CrimeReads * Indigo * Kirkus Reviews * School Library Journal * Shelf Awareness, 4 starred reviews from Kirkus, Publishers Weekly, School Library Journal and Shelf Awareness!Available now from bestselling and award-winning author Courtney Summers, an "emotionally raw and brutally captivating" (Publishers Weekly, starred review) queer coming-of-age thriller based loosely on the Epstein case that's "not for the faint of heart." (The New York Times)All sixteen-year-old Georgia Avis wants is everything, but the poverty and hardship that defines her life has kept her from the beautiful and special things she knows she deserves. When she stumbles upon the dead body of thirteen-year-old Ashley James, Georgia teams up with Ashley's older sister Nora, to find the killer before he strikes again, and their investigation throws Georgia into a glittering world of unimaginable privilege and wealth--and all she's ever dreamed. But behind every dream lurks a nightmare, and Georgia must reconcile her heart's desires with what it really takes to survive. As Ashley's killer closes in and their feelings for one another grow, Georgia and Nora will discover when money, power, and beauty rule, it's not always a matter of who is guilty but who is guiltiest--and the only thing that might save them is each other.I’m the Girl is a brutal and illuminating account of how one young woman feels in her body as she struggles to navigate a deadly and predatory power structure while asking readers one question: if this is the way the world is, do you accept it?

"Courtney Summers does it again. What a phenomenal YA book. I can't get enough of her stories.

Aspera. A beautiful, mysterious, exclusive place filled with the elite and wealthy. It oozes glamour and mystique, and to be an Aspera girl would be the highest honor for Georgia Avis. Before she knows it, she's sucked into the world of Aspera while trying to uncover the story behind a young girl's death. But everything is not quite as it seems from the outside. Georgia is about to pay a high price to belong in Aspera, a price that begs the question: if this is the way the world is, do you accept it?

I'M THE GIRL. HAS. EVERYTHING. Murder mystery? Check. Twists and turns? Check. Coming of age? Check. Sapphic romance? Check. It's also an incredibly relevant and important commentary on the toxic power structures that let wealthy men get away with crime and convince women to go along with it in exchange for power and prestige. CW/TW: grooming and sexual abuse. It's very pertinent to the story (and to real life, as Cleo and Matthew Hayes mirror Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislane Maxwell), and it opened my eyes to how a teen girl could get sucked into something so sinister and not even realize it. I hope that teens read this book and learn to recognize the signs of grooming and to be skeptical of the people they so blindly admire.

This is shaping up to be my favorite YA read of the year. 5/5. Now excuse me while I start my next Courtney Summers book.

Thank you to NetGalley for the advanced listener's copy of the audiobook!"
"I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review. 2 stars.
This book took me forever to get through. I would have missed the deadline had it not been extended. I’m a fan of Courtney Summers and I enjoy a meandering book. However meandering with an unlikeable character was not fun. She wasn’t despicable enough for me to love to hate but wasn’t enjoyable enough to want to know more. It feels like everything just sorta happens to Georgia. She’s not an active participant in the plot. It was to the point where it wasn’t even suspenseful I was just annoyed waiting for answers. Is the book the worst thing I’ve ever read? No, but’s not very good either. I ended up skimming the last 15% of the book just to finish it."
