"4.5 ⭐️ The political intrigue continues in the final book of this YA fantasy trilogy and I very much enjoyed how it wraps up. Surprise alliances, unlikely friendships and sweet romantic relationships blossom while continuing to navigating who has been disloyal to the crown and left the kingdom desperate for aid. I loved the addition of King Harristan’s POV in this book. He is one of my favorite characters in the series. There were some parts that felt slower paced and towards the end there’s a bit of a time jump forward during the climax that felt jarring, but overall an entertaining read. "
"What a rollercoaster of emotions I just went through.

By this book, I loved these characters wholeheartedly and was so excited that they were split up so they could develop separately, which is so essential for characters to come into themselves.

I loved how the characters got chapters in chunks, so we spent 60-100 pages with them at a time instead of jarringly switching between the three povs each chapter.

I was enthralled with the characters, plot twists, and numerous settings. I think this was a near-perfect conclusion to this trilogy. I was captivated from start to finish, thrown for a loop, and nearly had a heart attack at the end. That’s how you know it’s good."
"4 Stars
Cover 4 Stars

Series 4.5 Stars

WWTQ: Did he deserve it?
Answer: Does anyone get what they truly deserve?

Full disclosure I've read the first two books many times. They're comfort reads. I love these characters. I was up until the wee-hours devouring this, so in the sense that it's a compelling, fun, and page-turning read, it is. But christ, did these guys go through it.

We pick up where book two left off. Our characters are split up. Corrick is a prisoner, Tessa is effectively a prisoner, and Harristan is in exile. The book is their journey back to each other. It has all the great YA fantasy tropes: political intrigue, spying, piracy, grappling hooks - it's fun.
"
