Nora Roberts
In her stunning 200th novel, #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts proves why no one is better “when it comes to flawlessly fusing high-stakes suspense with red-hot romance" (Booklist, starred review). Daughter of a cold, controlling mother and an anonymous donor, studious, obedient Elizabeth Fitch finally let loose one night, drinking too much at a nightclub and allowing a strange man’s seductive Russian accent to lure her to a house on Lake Shore Drive. Twelve years later, the woman now known as Abigail Lowery lives alone on the outskirts of a small town in the Ozarks. A freelance security systems designer, her own protection is supplemented by a fierce dog and an assortment of firearms. She keeps to herself, saying little, revealing nothing. Unfortunately, that seems to be the quickest way to get attention in a tiny southern town. The mystery of Abigail Lowery and her sharp mind, secretive nature and unromantic viewpoint intrigues local police chief Brooks Gleason, on both a personal and professional level. And while he suspects that Abigail needs protection from something, Gleason is accustomed to two-bit troublemakers, not the powerful and dangerous men who are about to have him in their sights. And Abigail Lowery, who has built a life based on security and self-control, is at risk of losing both.

"Olivia Sinclair is back, but instead of practicing family law she is working on a criminal cold case. When Ebby was a teenager he witnessed the murder of his mother and passed out causing him to have amnesia. 30 years later he begins having flashbacks of that murder. He admits to be the killer of his mother.

Can Olivia prove his innocence, even if he did confess to the murder? This is the second of the series and both have been great. Plenty of twists and turns that had me guessing who the real killer was."
"So I've read a few romantic suspense novels lately while I've been listening to some Urban Fantasy audiobooks and I have to say this is the best of them so far. The story played out and never felt rushed and the story line never felt incomplete and swept under the rug to get to the conclusion. It was an engaging read.

This was my first Nora Roberts book. I can't tell you why I've avoided this author, there was never anything really behind the decision other than I've never really looked into her books. As I look for more mysteries or romantic suspense to offset what I listen to, I just may give her other books a try now."
"The Witness by Nora Roberts, has the usual weaknesses of a Nora Roberts romance. The plot gets a bit formulaic and thin when the romance part comes through, but the metamorphosis of the personality of the protagonist, Elizabeth (Liz) Fitch, with her almost supernatural intellect and intuition, made this book a well crafted story."
"So good, a page turner!!!"
