"<strong>Encanto for grown-ups</strong>
The Enchanted Hacienda definitely has Encanto vibes. Harlow is part of a magical family but doesn't have magic. Even the family's flower shop is named Encanto.
But this story is so much more. It is a love story and a story about finding your true self. The characters and settings are so vibrant they leap off the page. I found myself making notes like, "Oh, please don't let....." as the characters had made me care so much that I dreaded what I knew would come next. It wasn't boring or predictable, I just knew where parts were going instinctively.
A sub story is that of Beverly and William. Cervantes does a beautiful job writing about losing a loved one layer by layer to alzheimers.
I usually don't read romance but I'm glad I read this one. I recommend it to people who believe in magic, for people who believe in the magic of flowers, and for people who just want a get away to amazing destinations (Mexico and Quebec).
I have an inkling that J.C. Cervantes is not done with this magical family. My fingers are crossed that we get to read about Harlow's sisters as they navigate their magic and find love."
"Life is just a series of beginnings and endings. It’s one long season of learning how to let go. People, dreams, ideas, jobs, love. We hold each close to our bones and spirits, clutching so tightly we risk suffocating that which we profess to love, and then the time to let go comes—it always comes. We can run, or fight, or try to hide, but none of that will change the gathering storm on the horizon. And maybe it’s the storms that change us, that help carve a new path toward who we were always meant to be."
