From the New York Times bestselling author of A Cuban Girl's Guide to Tea and Tomorrow, this deeply heartfelt love story explores hiding the worst parts of ourselves, and finding the people who love us anyway.“How could I open that door and let him see the messiest part of me?”From the moment she first learned to read, literary genius Darcy Wells has spent most of her time living in the worlds of her books. There, she can avoid the crushing reality of her mother’s hoarding and pretend her life is simply ordinary. But then Asher Fleet, a former teen pilot with an unexpectedly shattered future, walks into the bookstore where she works…and straight into her heart. For the first time in her life, Darcy can’t seem to find the right words. Fairy tales are one thing, but real love makes her want to hide behind her carefully constructed ink-and-paper wall.Still, after spending her whole life keeping people out, something about Asher makes Darcy want to open up. But securing her own happily-ever-after will mean she’ll need to stop hiding and start living her own truth—even if it’s messy.“A lovely tale for bookish readers that will give them all the feels.” —Kirkus

"I wish I could give this book 6 stars. I didn’t want this book to end. Why don’t more people talk about this book? I love how much I felt like I was in Darcy’s world. I didn’t want this book to end. This is a true fictional coming of age story. From High school drama to family life issues. I felt like this book was some I could pick up over and over and fall in love with the characters from the start over again. Is so cute."
"As a book lover, this book was a guaranteed five stars when I started it. The references to the wide variety of books Darcy reads gives the reader insight on her personality as well as what she dreams her life was like.

I have always understood the importance of a good story and the impact it can have on its readers. Whether it's sharing a story that helps the reader feel less alone, giving the reader a place to run away to in uncomfortable situations, or just for pure enjoyment, stories help people realize the person they want to be and/or were meant to be. I feel this story embodies these points beautifully.

I would recommend this book to teens primarily, but really, anyone who is in the mood for a relatable YA Contemporary romance.

This book gave me so many feelings, and I know I've said this before about other books, this one fits right into that category.

5 STARS without a doubt, and there is no question that I already want to read it again."
"It was not the romance I was expecting because Asher already has a girlfriend at the start of the book. It was ok but not something I would read again. It was a bit slow and the relationship did not develop between the love interest in a meet cute feel good way. It is more about the heroine and the relationship with her mother which is a compulsive shopper/hoarder."
