Brandon Sanderson
Years ago he had comrades in arms and a cause to believe in, but now the man who calls himself Nomad knows only a life on the run. Forced to hop from world to world in the Cosmere whenever the relentless Night Brigade gets too close, Nomad lands on a new planet and is instantly caught up in the struggle between a tyrant and the rebels who want only to escape being turned into mindless slaves-all under the constant threat of a sunrise whose heat will melt the very stones. Unable to understand the language, can he navigate the conflict and gain enough power to leap offworld before his mind or body pay the ultimate price? From his record-breaking Kickstarter, The Sunlit Man is one of four incredible new novels by one of the world's biggest fantasy writers. ****** Praise for Brandon Sanderson "Epic in every sense" -The Guardian on The Way of Kings "Brandon Sanderson's reputation is finally as big as his novels" -The New York Times on Words of Radiance "If you're a fan of fantasy and haven't read the Mistborn trilogy yet, you have no excuses" -Forbes on Mistborn "A fresh view of how a world can grow, building new dimensions into the best of the old. "Not the best for new fans. There were a lot of references but the story and characters were good enough to enjoy without knowing everything. More sci-fi than fantasy. A hint of romance but not acted upon (for good reason)."

"I haven't read any Sanderson novels, aside from the 4 secret projects that are all stand alone novels set in his Cosmere universe. This one was tied for my least favorite. I had difficulty following the story at times because I just didn't feel invested in the characters and the story. Would recommend if you like Brandon Sanderson, though. "
"3.5/5 ⭐

The main problem I have with this book is how bland the side characters and antagonists are. Besides that, this was a fun, fast-paced book, and as with every Sanderson book, the world-building was phenomenal."

"I write this speaking as a person who has read only one other book in the cosmere. That book was Tress, and that one wasn’t as central to the cosmere as Sunlit Man is. Had I read the Stormlight Archive before this, I probably would give it a higher rating. However, as someone who is quite new to Sanderson, I don’t think this can properly qualify as a standalone. At least, not for people like me. I found it quite confusing as a whole, because there kept being hint drops, then finally a reveal of who the main character really was, but I didn’t get the same wow factor because I didn’t know what any of it was.

A lot of the tech and worldbuilding went over my head too in this one. It was a very cool world, but written in a high fantasy/sci-fi tone, it was too much overall.

I enjoyed the main character and the voice in his head character. They were my favorite part of this book.

Overall, if you’re new to the cosmere, don’t read this yet. I would have enjoyed it a lot more had I read it much later."
