Brandon Sanderson
#1 New York Times bestselling author Brandon Sanderson expands his Cosmere universe shared by The Stormlight Archive and Mistborn with a new standalone novel for everyone who loved The Princess Bride. The only life Tress has known on her island home in an emerald-green ocean has been a simple one, with the simple pleasures of collecting cups brought by sailors from faraway lands and listening to stories told by her friend Charlie. But when his father takes him on a voyage to find a bride and disaster strikes, Tress must stow away on a ship and seek the Sorceress of the deadly Midnight Sea. Amid the spore oceans where pirates abound, can Tress leave her simple life behind and make her own place sailing a sea where a single drop of water can mean instant death?Note from Brandon:I started writing this in secret, as a novel just for my wife. She urged me to share it with the world—and alongside three other secret novels, with the support of readers worldwide it grew into the biggest Kickstarter campaign of all time. I’m excited to present this first book to you at last: a different type of Brandon Sanderson story, one I wrote when there were no time constraints, no expectations, and no limits on my imagination. Come be part of the magic.

"This was a really great book. Although the narration was a bit confusing to fallow a little bit in the beginning it was a fun read I liked all the characters except not you ( Duke, crow, and sorceress). The twist in chapter 61 was honestly wild and I didn't expect it at all. And I might have a tiny crush on ulaam don't judge me ok."
"WTF did I just read and why am I crying? Lol this was my first Brandon Sanderson, and just like Tress’, man what a journey. First of all, the way this story is told, wild! Lol I love Hoid and I want more of that silly man’s little brain. I loved Tress and what she represents, a girl who didn’t impose herself on people, highly relatable, but circumstance gave her an opportunity to find her voice and become a woman. Damned be whoever has a problem with that, she wasn’t imposing, through her journey to save her beloved, she stoped worrying and started existing and taking up the space she deserved, imposing or not be damned. Ugh and her love for her cups! This is also a really cool story about how sometimes the journeys we go on, tend to change us in ways that make the reason we go on that journey, not as important anymore. That change is good and vital despite how painful it is at times.
Ulaam deserved his own book man lol, what an interesting character.
This was fun and the fact that he wrote this for his wife, is so endearing. It was a fun journey, the characters are so unique, the events, what? I had fun. Maybe the hype is real for this Sanderson guy 😉
Happy reading! "
"Maybe my favorite book I’ve read all year. Brandon Sanderson’s ability to capture the heroine’s emotions so eloquently throughout this gripping story, is matched only by how genuinely funny this epic story is throughout. He manages a brilliant take on this Princess Bride-like adventure, I cannot recommend enough! "
"A great adventure! Clever, witty, and creative. I laughed out loud multiple times. A fun and engaging story with fantastic characters and worldbuilding. "

"Listen this one is perfect for pride month just because I’m in love with that one picture of Cap Crow. Anyways, I’ve never liked a main character more. Also heavily enjoyed the world and most of the cast. The romance portion was well thought out. The only part is didn’t like was how to narrator was part of the story. I have never liked that kind of thing."
