""But we all make choices about people. Who we want to hold close, who we want to remain in our lives, and who we are just fine without."<br/><br/>4.5⭐<br/><br/>With the Fire on High was my first Elizabeth Acevedo book, and I loved it! The characters, setting, and story were good, and it was very easy to connect to everything. This was a calming, pleasant, and relaxing read, and I really enjoyed it."
"As a reader, I gave the novel “With The Fire on High” three stars out of five because of the lack of effective explanation of the complexities displayed in the story, the personalities associated with each of the characters, and how this book is set up. Accordingly, these parts of the novel allow for a rating that best suits the book overall because it shows other people that there were many good additions to the book, however, there were still lots of areas that the author needed help in. This is significant because it allows for more constructive criticism that may be helpful to other readers when exploring books and obviously to the author. "
"LOVED this, the MC and her relationships with her family and friends and culture were so relatable and well-written. She handled her struggles with grace, and it was so nice reading from a perspective of a protagonist that I can relate to on a cultural level"

"I really enjoyed this book. The author has a great writing style. This book connected with me, due to the main character's uncertainty about what she should do with the rest of her life. The main character was very goal oriented and a go getter. The only draw back was the number of times the phrase "she let out a breath she didn't know she was holding". I think I counted it used three different times, which isn't a lot, however it really stuck out to me for some reason."
