The mermaid is known for her siren song, luring bedroom-eyed sailors to their demise. However, beneath these misguided myths are tales of escapism and healing, which Lovelace weaves throughout this empowering collection of poetry, taking you on a journey from the sea to the stars. They tried to silence her once and for all, but the mermaid’s voice returns in this one.

"So I will first acknowledge that I listened to this via audiobook since I sometime have trouble with the structure of poetry. I highly recommend listening, though this is coming from someone who loves poetry readings and the entire essence of slam poetry. As for the content, it was exactly the kind of message that we need in this era of #MeToo. I hope others who read or listen feel validated, though I would argue the entire purpose of this collection is that women don’t need validation for any of the feelings we have."

"" Little Alice may have done a freefall through all of time &space, but that doesn't mean you have to jump off the bridge after her. Sometimes the best thing you can do for yourself is to let the past remain in the past. Darling, shhh--- it was never as pretty as you like to pretend it was. It's time you give your present a fair chance. After all, it's never once given up on you." This series of poems was absolutely beautiful. I really love how they together tell a story of trauma and healing that no matter what kid of trauma you've experienced you can relate to this healing process. Hands down loved this book."
