"3.5⭐️ My second MM book and I don’t think she’s the author for me. Yes she’s highly recommended plus her synopses always sound so good…I so badly want to like them! Well I found this one to be better than The Last to Vanish but it still took forever to finish because it never truly gets its hooks into you, well me that is anyway. But again..intriguing plot. I wanted to know what happened. It was all..to quote another reviewer on another book..aggressively fine lol "
"I didn't like it. It was boring, didn't give me a reason to care about the characters or the plot, and it felt like all the characters we're blowing everything out of proportion. It was almost a DNF but I basically just skimmed the last quarter of the book. Plus the twists were expected. "

"After surviving an accident on the way back from a school trip, a group of friends gathers each year the week of the accident. They never told the entire truth of what happened. This year is the 10th anniversary. A second in their group of survivors has committed suicide. Someone is telling their version. Who can be trusted?"
"I wanted to like this book. I waited for the hold from my library for quite awhile. It fell flat for me and I couldn’t finish it. Got a little over halfway through with it and had to stop. There were so many characters and the timeline hops confused me. I couldn’t get invested in anybody or really track what was going on. Bummer. "
"This was my BOTM pick and I absolutely loved this story. I think it’s rare for readers to get a mostly happy ending in a novel that’s in the thriller genre so I was surprised as the resolution started to unfold. I think it’s important to note there are timeline and character POV changes but I felt they were easy to navigate while reading. I have yet to be disappointed by BOTM’s thriller picks. 4/5⭐️"
" I didn’t hate the book, it was just that to be considered a thriller, it didn’t meet my expectations. However I mostly kept reading just to see if the story got any better throughout and I was more so disappointed. I enjoyed how the book was written, I didn’t hate the characters, they just seemed very one dimensional. Nobody really had layers to them and neither did their stories. I just wanted a bit more action to keep me along. This book was very slow and didn’t really have a climax at the end. We found that everyone was keeping secrets from when they were 18 years old, it just didn’t seem worthy of writing a book about to me. The two big twists at the end that we find out are interesting and do bring flare to the book but it wasn’t enough to carry the book for me, unfortunately. I probably would not read again.
If you enjoy slow burn thrillers with slight mystery and teenager guilt then this book may work for you or if you’re looking for a trip that turns out to be very different than you expected then this book might work for you. I think of the right audience this book could be great, it just didn’t work for me particularly. "
