"Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six is entertaining and propulsive as it focuses on the depths of family and heritage. There are interrelated perspectives that get to the heart of what it is to know or not know one’s origins and the cost of what that can come at. What’s promised to be a sleek, luxurious retreat and chance to unwind becomes marred with misadventures as the novel progresses. Each character brings substance and complication as they struggle to wade through who could be hiding something. I thought that each couple had interesting, dynamic backstories which made the story come to life in nuanced ways. You can feel the searching and yearning to find sense of place and belonging throughout, which becomes dependent on the people and circumstances those are around. I enjoyed how atmospheric and spine-tingling the setting felt, which became more and more eerie with each page turn. This was an evocative, immersive adventure and each perspective was necessary even if initially it takes time to weave together in your mind who everyone is. Read this to escape and experience life gone wildly rogue and heightened. The rock painted with ‘believe’ in my second picture also becomes a great reminder everyday to commit to life and live it well and with assertion 💙 Books bring me great respite and enjoyment and deeply contribute to my abilities to more actively believe and engage in the possibility of the now and present ✨"
