In the beginning, there's a boy standing in the trees . . . .Clara Gardner has recently learned that she's part angel. Having angel blood run through her veins not only makes her smarter, stronger, and faster than humans (a word, she realizes, that no longer applies to her), but it means she has a purpose, something she was put on this earth to do. Figuring out what that is, though, isn't easy. Her visions of a raging forest fire and an alluring stranger lead her to a new school in a new town. When she meets Christian, who turns out to be the boy of her dreams (literally), everything seems to fall into place—and out of place at the same time. Because there's another guy, Tucker, who appeals to Clara's less angelic side.As Clara tries to find her way in a world she no longer understands, she encounters unseen dangers and choices she never thought she'd have to make—between honesty and deceit, love and duty, good and evil. When the fire from her vision finally ignites, will Clara be ready to face her destiny?Unearthly is a moving tale of love and fate, and the struggle between following the rules and following your heart.

"Brilliant!! Literally and in the context of the book. Cynthia Hand was genius! Her description of angelic mythology and her uncanny ability to write from the perspective of the lead character Clara was fantastic. I found myself totally absorbed in the story from start to finish. The characters were well developed and all of the characters were realistic and unique. I have never read anything quite like this. This book far surpasses the Fallen series, in my opinion, and if you are reading this review you owe it to yourself to give this one a shot. I can guarantee you this book will pleasantly surprise you in ways you never thought possible. Amazing debut!!"

"Love this series. I had no idea the author went to my high school until I was reading the first book and actually recognized the history lesson the teacher was teaching in the book! Freaked me out a bit at first! I was very excited after realizing because our history teacher was absolutely amazing. That aside its just an enjoyable book, two more after this. My 15 year old who is picky about books also liked this series. "
"Good book, but that ending made me say loudly "are you kidding me?!" which caused the hubby to wake up and say sleepily "What? Did you get to the end and get the literary equivalent to "to be continued"?" I stopped and thought about it, and that's EXACTLY what the end of this book was!

So good! Don't want to have to figure out where my next hit of "Hallowed" is going to come from!"
