"So I liked this story, I enjoyed Lenore and her valiant efforts at trying to understand what she was becoming. The story intrigued a little but it was the spice kept me here. However, this book had the potential to be dark, twisty and absolutely gut wrenching. In my opinion the HEA was delivered on a silver platter and that’s not something I thoroughly enjoyed. Solon and Lenore struggled around each other but I felt like conflicts were resolved rather quickly. I wish there had been more angst, more situations where Lenore was able to tap into both of her parts and learned more about what and who she had become. This story has all the best tropes, I just feel like maybe they weren’t fully developed? I was also left with so many questions, which ultimately I guess maybe is a sign of a good book? But how come Tabitha was killed setting all of this into motion? Or was Lenore’s true father really the catalyst? I know that there’s more that may come to light in the subsequent books, maybe that’ll bring me back into it."
"honestly, it started off pretty strong. the beginning of the book was pretty scary, but it just lost all of that. the writer also has a few habits that I couldn't look past. she would tell what song was playing in the background when describing a new scene that just gave me the ick. she carried on the "I know I shouldn't love him" thing too long and would call out nonbinary people when describing something gendered that could've easily been replaced with a simple "everyone." it just felt weird the more you got into it. it felt almost like a kids' book, then immediately when to very graphic ****. the concept overall is pretty good, but I just felt it could've been executed better. the **** scenes were also very detached and very short, almost like she felt uncomfortable writing them "
