"4.5

This is a very crime forward book. While there is a romance element. It is definitely a secondary element in the story.

Frank Schultt is a 37yo NYPD Detective and would have been heir to Schultt Pharmaceuticals; however, he is estranged from his wealthy family because they can not reconcile his sexual orientation. He is also a widower who lost his husband on Christmas Eve five years earlier, he has been on a downward spiral ever since. Aaron Massey is an FBI agent and profiler who he partners with to find a serial killer targeting victims using the Christmas as a backdrop.

It is a great enemies to lovers story. Boy meets boy. Boy gets the wrong impression, boy gets under boy's skin, boys fall into bed, then boys fall in love all while solving a murder at Christmas. I really enjoyed the authors play on the Christmas theme and the use of the law enforcement trope. I selected this book because enemies to lovers and law enforcement/military are two tropes that I really enjoy. The Christmas element was just a bonus. I also enjoy a good mystery and the author gave me all of the above.

If you are looking for a steamy melt on the page love story, keep going. But if you are looking for a meaty mystery with a romantic element, with a Christmas twist, this is a good one for you. I look forward to more from this author.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review."
