“A pure delight . . . Romantic, poignant, and spellbinding.”— REBECCA ROSS, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Divine Rivals“Fiercely feminist and deeply romantic, Psyche and Eros has the allure of an old fable and the epic quality of ancient myth, tinged with a provocative, modern wit. Passionate and deftly-told.” — AVA REID, #1 New York Times bestselling author of A Study in Drowning and The Wolf and the WoodsmanHas the god of love finally met his match?Prepare to fall for this glorious reimagining of Greek mythology about a god struck by his own cursed arrow and the mortal woman who teaches him what love truly meansPsyche, princess of Mycenae, was born with a prophecy that she will one day conquer a great monster. Rejecting her royal duties, Psyche spends her youth mastering blade and bow, preparing for her destiny. Tales of her beauty and rebellious nature reach even the goddess Aphrodite, who decides to teach Psyche a lesson. Aphrodite commands Eros, the god of desire, to deliver a cruel love curse. After eons watching humanity misuse his gifts, the last thing Eros wants is to become involved in the chaos of the mortal world. But when he accidentally pricks himself with the arrow intended for Psyche, Eros finds himself doomed to yearn for a woman who will be torn from him the moment their eyes meet.Thrown together by fate, headstrong Psyche and world-weary Eros will face challenges greater than they could have ever imagined. As the Trojan War begins and divine powers try to keep them apart, the pair must determine: could this be true love, or is that only a myth?A joyous and subversive tale of gods, monsters, and the human heart and soul, Psyche and Eros dazzles the senses while exploring notions of trust, sacrifice, and what it truly means to be a hero. With unforgettably vivid characters, spellbinding prose, and delicious tension, Luna McNamara has crafted a shimmering and propulsive debut novel about a love so strong it defies the will of Olympus.“A riotous adventure . . . "I enjoyed the twist and turns of the journey between Eros and Psyche. Their personalities contrasted well enough to be distinguishable. However composition wise there was one section in the rising action where it get as though it was missing some interesting plot that could have been included (made me think I skipped a chapter) You do get to have Cameos from other notoria Greek figure from other novels such as Circe and The Song of Achilles which is a great book to branch from those two. Over I was pleased just the composition of the writing was not to my preference. "
"Juicy Greek mythology with a twist! I would love to read more books like this."

"This was a good book!! It wasn’t amazing but it was great. I enjoyed reading it. It got a bit slow in the middle, but stayed interesting enough to keep me. It told a very warm story, much milder than other modern greek mythology adaptations, and it was a welcome change. It’s a story of love, after all. I would definitely recommend it. "
"Thank you to Harper Audio for the ARC audiobook via NetGalley. <br/><br/>I really enjoyed this reimagining of the story of Psyche and Eros - a fresh take on their story. McNamara did a great job including so many familiar names from Greek mythology within this retelling, both gods and mortals. I loved watching the relationship between Psyche and Eros blossom. The dual POV between both characters created a wonderful depth and the narrators did a fantastic job with both characters. The alternating POVs between both characters kept the pacing of the story more engaging.<br/><br/>With Greek retellings, I know that authors may take liberties with the source material and this one is no exception. So if you are looking for a story that stays 100% true to the source material, you may find yourself disappointed. There were some choices McNamara made that weren't really explained or justified as to why she chose these changes. She made Psyche the niece of Aganemnon and cousin of Iphigenia. She made her an only child instead of having sisters and Iphigenia was more of a stand-in sister for Psyche. McNamara also chose to make Penelope the sister of Helen and Clytemnestra rather than a cousin. As these changes don't affect the heart of the story, I'm not sure why they were made in the first place. <br/><br/>Personally, I don't mind the changes. I did enjoy the modernization of the classic Greek myth, making Psyche an aspiring warrior and hero. I enjoyed the conflict within the story regarding Psyche's unconventional upbringing and the opinions of others around her along with her emotional conflict with her duty as a princess to marry and provide male heirs versus her desire to become a hero."

"uhh I wouldn’t know where to start when explaining how I feel about this. I read the prologue and it seemed very interesting until I flipped the page and I cringed, but I continued the book. <br/><br/>I found it difficult to get into, I didn’t like the writing style, Psyche to me was very dull and the only thing that was carrying her was the plot. However, Eros seemed to be more interesting. <br/><br/>I had difficulties reading the book in terms of being engaged and wanting to read it. But I’d say at the 40% mark (when **** hit the fan) was when things started to get more interesting. <br/><br/>Many say this is ‘for the Madeline miller girlies’, me personally, that’s crazy"
"Thank you Netgalley and Orion Publishing for this arc in exchange for an honest review. <br/><br/>"Psyche and Eros" by Luna McNamara is, a retelling of Psyche and Eros love story. <br/><br/><br/>I would give "Psyche and Eros" by Luna McNamara a 3 star review because, I liked seeing a new side of their love story, I really enjoyed seeing Eros's pov but I didn't really enjoy Psyche side of the story as much since it follow both Psyche and Eros."
